fishing trip

This past weekend we took Baby Calvie on his very first fishing trip.  Jake rigged us up two poles and within minutes we had a couple bites.  When we pulled our first one in, Cal wasnt quite sure what to think of this new creature that he had never before seen.  He ended up loving it!!!!
I love Jake's intense face and Cal's "are you kidding me" face :)
All in all, Cal's first fishing trip was a fun success!

summer lovin'

We have sure enjoyed summer thus far..especially this last week. Nate, my oldest brother and all his family was in town from Cincinnati and while they were here we partied nonstop every day! We enjoyed barbeques, keeping cool at the pool, evening fire roasts, four-wheeling, birthday parties, water fights, and my mom even did a fishpond for the grandkids-which pretty much turned into Christmas in July!
We also took Calvin on his very first hike. We went with the whole family up to Big Springs in South Fork. Cal loved every minute of it. He is such a happy baby.
Towards the end it began raining and got a little chilly. . . . . but it didn't bother Cal one bit. . . .  in fact he took a nap. :)
For the 4th Jake spent a good part of the day working on his family cabin while I hit up some family parties. We topped our night off with good ol' PG fireworks. I was a little concerned about the loud noise, but the rockets red glare put little Calvin to sleep.

Cal was showered with attention from his cousins!

rodeo time

We have always loved the strawberry days rodeo! This year, Jake's work decided to make a team to compete in the 'wild cow milking' competition, and they got first place! No major injuries reported, but they get to go again on Saturday with the finalists. To say I'm worried would be an understatement-Luckily I have prayers and strawberries & cream to help keep me from freaking out...

yes, those ARE Jake's boots in the air...

back in bermuda

Just over a year ago we had the chance to go to Bermuda, and absolutely fell in love with the island.  Since returning home, we have bragged about the beauty of Bermuda to many people we know.  It was our favorite place and we only hoped that someday we would have the opportunity to go back.  We figured that opportunity would come when we were MUCH older, but this past week the stars somehow aligned and we returned to our beloved place!  We rented scooters and rode the entire island on the wrong side of the rode. We visited our favorite beaches we found last time, and discovered a few new favorites.  Bermuda is OUR place.  We hope we make it back again someday.

15 seconds of fame

We weren't planning on a trip into manhattan when we bought our new york airfare,
but 15 stops later on the subway we found ourselves in times square,
After shopping and walking we glanced up and what did we see?
some very familiar faces on a rather large big screen tv!
(even if it was a short trip to new york, we had to make time for the metropolitan museum of art)

Recap of Summer...

I am seriously baffled by how fast this summer flew by. I love the summertime and all the fun activities that are associated with it....this year for the first time in what-like 17 years or so that my summer has been extra long. It is a strange and yet glorious feeling not to go back to school with everyone else. I am sure that I will miss it soon enough but for now I am enjoying all this extra time!! Well, our summer was wonderful like always. Our top 5 highlights are as follows:

1. Our various camping trips. We were able to take some trips with family and friends and we sure had a lot of fun!

2. This summer I worked at the Springville Museum of Art at night when Jake was in class and I absolutely loved every minute!

3. The birthday week. I love having our birthdays just a few days apart so we can party all week long!
3.5 Eating warm strawberries and other delectable items from our garden:) yumm

4. Our anniversary (prev. post)... including our trip but also including all the fun things we've done together to celebrate marriage:)

5. and...last but not least, well maybe least...racking up some serious medical bills..ha.. this summer has brought us to the doctor on multiple accounts...I am basically a genius when it comes to insurance now;)
Goodbye Summer-we will miss you!
