wedding and a baby...

well, not quite a baby yet...but only a few more weeks to go!!

My older brother Andy and and his new wife Bethany got married last week and we are so happy for them! As for the bride-not only do we share the same name, we also studied abroad together in London years ago...
...and I am so excited for her to join our family! They make a darling couple and we loved celebrating with them on their big day!

christmas weekend!

If I had to pick one word that described our Christmas this year, it would have to be. . . . .. Ping-Pong.
Not just because we always play it on Christmas eve at Jake's grandmas house, but because we went back and forth between my family and Jake's family like a ping pong ball.  Our "weekend schedule" sent us back and forth between parties and it was great! We finally got around to opening our own gifts to each other late Christmas night. It will be hard to top this memorable Christmas-next year better watch out!

babymoon

Jake and I decided that we needed one last trip before our bundle of joy makes his appearance in March. My two qualifications for the trip was that it would not be a long flight (bad ears+no meds=no bueno)  and it needed to be a place where I could relax...so for our "babymoon" Jake and I decided to vacation in beautiful San Diego. The weather was perfect! We hung out at the beach, relaxed at the resort, and even went to a NFL game.
For the game, Jake bought himself a San Diego Chargers shirt and an Oakland Raiders shirt for me. "Raider nation" turned out to be quite a rowdy crowd but we had a lot of fun cheering for both teams until the game was over and we walked back to our rental car which had been towed....
When we first found out we were prego, I decided that we would not find out the sex of the baby until birth and make it a surprise! Sounds fun right?!? Jake was not too fond of this idea however...so after months of debating/compromising the date of our ultrasound came. We had our doctor put our big news in an envelope and we decided to open it on christmas. Well, having that envelope laying around for weeks was very tempting for the man of the house so being the nice wife, I brought the envelope with us on our trip where we opened it at coronado beach!

preparing for christmas

This past week we set up for our first christmas in our home.  Bringing up the tree from the basement was the easy part...  hanging christmas lights on the house proved to be slightly more difficult than the twenty minute activity we thought it would be.  After 4 hours and 5 trips to home depot, our home was lit and ready for the season!!

happy december!

in case you haven't heard...

Yeah, it's been awhile. I could say that my absence has because we've been busy with our jobs and life, or that our busy summer lead into an even more exciting fall...and well all of that IS true, but usually such business would be a good reason to blog. The truth is the little guy pictured above has been absorbing every last bit of energy I possess, and I couldn't be more thrilled about it!

Here is picture taken a week or so ago. We are currently 24 weeks along. We feel SO blessed to be pregnant!

3 cheers for us

Prince Albert said to Queen Victoria: "You're the only wife I've got or ever will have. You are my whole existence, and I will love you until my very last breath."

Today is our 3rd wedding anniversary.
The past three years married to this man have honestly been the best years of my life.
I love this man more and more everyday....
it's almost scary to even think we were "in love" when we got married, because compared to what we have now-that was just silly talk.

sprinkling system

When I think of summer, I think of sprinklers.  I have a lot of good memories that involve sprinklers. When I was little kid my friends and I made up creative games to avoid the water, or be the quickest to get through it, or stand in the stream of water the longest. I used to think it was magic water sprouting from the ground. As I grew older and hung out with the neighborhood gang, I always had an encounter with the sprinklers late at night as I tried to run home. I knew the exact timing and route I had to take from our back gate to the door as to avoid getting wet.
This summer however, the term "sprinkler" has taken on a new meaning...
As you can see, I've learned that sprinklers are not magic, but instead a lot of hard work.
So in celebration of sprinklers everywhere, I hope you all find a sprinkler to run through on this hot July weekend!
