sprinkling system

When I think of summer, I think of sprinklers.  I have a lot of good memories that involve sprinklers. When I was little kid my friends and I made up creative games to avoid the water, or be the quickest to get through it, or stand in the stream of water the longest. I used to think it was magic water sprouting from the ground. As I grew older and hung out with the neighborhood gang, I always had an encounter with the sprinklers late at night as I tried to run home. I knew the exact timing and route I had to take from our back gate to the door as to avoid getting wet.
This summer however, the term "sprinkler" has taken on a new meaning...
As you can see, I've learned that sprinklers are not magic, but instead a lot of hard work.
So in celebration of sprinklers everywhere, I hope you all find a sprinkler to run through on this hot July weekend!

75 days of building our house

Six months ago TODAY we moved into our house. It feels like yesterday.
I've been waiting a long time to post about our house because I wanted to wait until everything was finished, but I finally realized today that even if I waited 6 years, our house would still not be ready for show. oh well.

The building process was new for us, and we both learned a ton. We are so grateful for this lucky opportunity.

We love being back in Lindon!

a few things worth blogging about

Jake and I have been busy lately, but we are LOVING this holiday season. Here are a few things that we have been up to...

1. Jake had his knee surgery over a month ago and
his recovery has been well...memorable. The surgery and recovery has been a lot longer than we anticipated, but no worries because Jake has learned to have fun with his injury... For example, Jake used his 'cane' to cast spells at me on a regular basis (he believes that his cane resembles the elder wand-maybe you harry potter fans can agree)- He also thoroughly enjoyed using the scooter at walmart & home depot on multiple occasions. Anyway, he is currently going to physical therapy every other day and I am just grateful to have a walking husband again!
2. Last night we returned home from a delightful vacation. For Christmas Jake's parents took the whole family on a week cruise to the western Caribbean where we were able to visit Honduras, Belize, Mexico, and the Cayman Islands. We had a blast and we loved creating some fun family memories! The weather was perfect and having a tan in December is not to shabby. Thank you so much Randy & Susan!

3. Our house is finished!!!! It has been a fun and semi-stressful process to watch it go up. We have learned so much during the building of it and we feel so blessed for the way things have turned out. We are so excited to move in this week!

4. This last week Jake took his FINAL final making him done with his undergrad! Hooray! I am excited to spend more time with that handsome hubby of mine! I am so proud of him working full time and going to school full time. He is AMAZING, I don't know how I got so lucky! With that being said, we are now ready for some serious christmasing! Merry Christmas!

HGTV "Wannabe"

It has been five months since we've moved into our town house and we absolutely love it!! When we first arrived we got cable and instantly became addicted to HGTV and therefore over the last 5-ish months we have dedicated several weekends to the betterment of our home. Painting and decorating has been a fun process especially when Jake has more of an opinion than I do. Its a little sad that we are basically done and we already miss the Home Depot.

One of our favorite projects was our extra bedroom now referred to as our "homework" room. Jake installed the bead board and chair rail and we had a blast painting the walls and furniture. Here is how it turned out...
